Requirements

"
The spiritual life is not a theory. We have to live it.
~pg. 83, The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous

Tabor House residents must meet the following requirements:

bullet

There is a minimum requirement of three months sobriety in the outside world. Clean and sober time gained from within an institution will not be counted. Random drug testing and regular meetings with the house manager on an individual basis helps to ensure and prolong sober time and quality of life.

bullet

The initial fee for entrance into The Tabor House consists of 2 weeks rental to be paid in advance and a sobriety fee that acts as a security deposit and which is returnable on departure providing the rules of the house were met during the individual's stay here.

bullet

The men are encouraged to work or to gainfully seek employment. They are required to make two in-house meetings per week, and celebrate at least one meal together. They are encouraged to go to three outside A.A. meetings per week and to aggressively strive for physical, mental and spiritual growth as it is outlined in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. There is an appropriate manner of living in the house that relates specifically to respect for God and for our brothers, bad language, aggression, and general indecent forms of behavior are not tolerated in any shape or form.

bullet

There is a weekend and weeknight curfew to uphold, claims for overnight passes are required ahead of time and are granted at the discretion of the house manager. House responsibilities include weekly chores and regular attendance at the afore-mentioned meetings. Appropriate relationships within the AA program need to be fostered including a home group, a commitment to meetings, steps and relationship to sponsor.

bullet

Except for family members, there are no overnight guests and no women allowed in the bedrooms. There is a no smoking policy in all areas of the house.

bullet

Finally the men are required to make at least one retreat during their stay as part of their commitment to the house. We believe this to be a time of spiritual luxury and the work he puts into that part of the program of AA will ultimately benefit the individual (as well as the group), and reap rewards throughout all parts of his life when he decides to leave.
